The Great Cover-UPDATE 1/29/06

A report on the first night of activity at the 2006 Cover-Up...

Darrin Drda's Theory Of Everything - Cake
The Elanors - John Lennon & Yoko Ono
Angie Heaton - Dolly Parton
Probably Vampires - The Wallflowers
Shipwreck - Billy Idol
Lorenzo Goetz & The Goldfronts (w/ Brandon T. Washington) - Public Enemy

Feel free to comment on performances, set-lists, and guesses for who people are covering, since I can't make the first two nights...

Friday Night's Covers:

Ambitious Pie Party - The Beach Boys
Mike Ingram Band - Live
Tracktor Kings - Wilco
The Delta Kings - AC/DC
Beat Kitchen - Queens of the Stone Age
Elsinore - "Ziggy Stardust" era David Bowie

Saturday Night's Covers:

I have it on authority that Emotional Rec Club will be performing as Guided By Voices... and Greedy Lovesman Don Gerard has subtly stated that they will become The Vertebrats for an evening. The rest is a mystery at the moment...

EDIT: It's a mystery no more! Here are the bands covered from Saturday...

Poster Children - The Rolling Stones
Triple Science Whip (aka Triple Whip & Mad Science Fair) - Smashing Pumpkins
Terminus Victor - Fugazi
The Greedy Loves - The Vertebrats
Emotional Rec Club - Guided By Voices
Nadafinga - Jimmy Eat World

The Great Cover-Up @ Cowboy Monkey

Well, work schedules will permit me to make only one night of the somewhat-annual tradition of CU bands playing someone else's songs. Thursday and Friday's sets are out for me, but Saturday night features Emotional Rec Club, Greedy Loves, T-Vic, Poster Kids, and others who will play to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina. I'm gonna take a guess that Emotional Rec Club are gonna take on the guise of Journey. Look for a member of Joe Donhowe's old band Imaginary Posse to join them onstage to fill out the line-up. Also, look for a band that covered Uncle Tupelo in the past to cover Wilco. Do your homework!
